The longer course race was conducted over a 50m swim, 1km ride, and 800m run. All up 17 boys and 24 girls raced over the course. There were some very quick times recorded with the skill level of a very high standard.

In the boys long course Lachlan Townsend (8.03 mins), Cooper Ferrari (8.32 mins), Leo Bassingthwaighte (8.38 mins), Rex Bassingthwaighte (8.57 mins) and Josh Townsend (9.14 mins) all raced exceptionally well. Race 3_girls15In the girls long course field Haylee Fuller (7.49mins), Monique May (8.10 mins), Courtney May (8.28 mins), Kennedy Chapman (9.02 mins) and Brittany Marks (9.16 mins) all raced very quickly and were the leading performers. Bianca Fuller, Addison Chapman, Ruby Zell, Matilda Medlin, Payton Wray, Zakiah Jenkins and Samantha Barnes also raced strongly on the day.

In the short distance race there were 35 starters over the 12m swim-wade, 400 m ride and 400m run course. This meant that an individual girls and boys race was held at different starting times. As always the short distance was the most popular race on the day with great spectator support and fun had by all competitors and parents who helped.

Michael Martin Team Challenge – Race Report & Results

Dubbo Triathlon Club held one of its largest local events ever on Sunday 12th October with their first event of the season, the Michael Martin Team Charity Challenge.

Twenty five teams of three competed with the first member doing the 500m swim, the second doing an 18km bike ride, and a third member running 4km toward the finish line.

The format for this Charity Day was a “no watch” event so each team nominated a finish time and the closest team to finish to their nominated time was the winner.

14_DTC_Photo_Michael Martin_WinnersIn a shock result two teams’ dead heated for first both being only 12 seconds off their nominated time.

Club Secretary, Susan Madden, and fellow members of team Hurting Peta Holcombe and Edwina Toohey tied with the Mad Dog’s Luke McConochie, Heath Webb, and Nick Beattie (pictured).

Many of the 75 competitors were new and enjoyed the relaxed, fun atmosphere.

The Charity Day is in memory of former Club member, Michael Martin, and raised approximately $750 for the NSW Cancer Council.

Thank you to all participants, marshals and volunteers who made the day a success.
