Welcome to new Triathlon season and we are continuing our theme of fun in a supportive environment.
We have eight local Club races PLUS our new EMS Tri Charity in late November. In addition, there are another four regional InterClub sprint distance events we encourage our members to join in on at Mudgee, Orange, Cowra and Bathurst and one extra Olympic distance triathlon in Orange in February. That is a total of 14 races within 200km of Dubbo.
Once you become a member of Dubbo Triathlon Club it will:
- Cover you with insurance all over the world in sanctioned triathlon races,
- Issue you with a great Dubbo Triathlon Club shirt
- Offer weekly skills and technique assistance during the season,
- Email you a monthly newsletter
- Allocate all new members with a buddy to help you integrate easier
- Allow you to accumulate points for our annual Club Championship and associated Club trophies
Dubbo Triathlon Club are also key supporters of the Dubbo Runners Club and Friday Afternoon Aquathon who have a weekly Friday afternoon 3km handicap run. We will recommence the Friday Afternoon river swim in October.
Our Club Captain, Len Darlington, is the coordinator of the above two weekly Friday events and it is followed up by a BBQ in a family atmosphere. What a way of finishing a week meeting new like minded people with a bit of exercise and a laugh. Len can also inform you of all the other training sessions and skills sets Dubbo Triathletes are involved in throughout the week.
Our club caters for novices to elites but our key objectives is on our local Club events and making sure we can all have a bit of fun while enjoying a great way of life getting fitter. It also creates a pathway for the more serious triathletes to progress, whether a junior or a mature beginner, onto the bigger platforms at Regional, State, National and International stages of both triathlon and duathlon (run, bike, run).
St George Bank are continuing this season as naming right sponsors. Over the next two weeks we will announce our new sponsors who will assist you and the Club.
We are extremely well served this season by an almost brand new Committee of Susan Madden, Secretary, the veteran Greg Heath as Treasurer, Len Darlington, Club Captain, Paige Williams, Marketing and Communications, Scott Stevenson and David Gerrish, Marshall Coordinators and Rob Duffy and Dave Little Committee. We must thank the long term retiring veteran Secretary Pete Christie for his tireless contribution to our Club for the last 25+ years. Pete, a Life Member, will remain in the Club hopefully to compete a bit more.
Over the next two months we hope to complete new steps into our river to improve accessibility and safety. We are a Club moving forward.
Join in and ask your friends to come along and be a part of it.
